Supporting Classroom Success

Stroke

Our Classroom Enrichments program is dedicated to providing resources and support to educators in Central Oregon. Through this program, we aim to enhance the learning experience and promote academic achievement for students in our community.

Empowering Classrooms Through Enrichments

The Bend-La Pine Education Foundation offers Classroom Enrichment Grants twice a year — Fall and Spring. These grants support innovative projects that bring education to life and provide hands-on learning experiences for students.

What is a Classroom Enrichment?
A classroom enrichment is a creative, engaging project that deepens learning and inspires students beyond the traditional curriculum. Examples include: A science lesson on objects in motion where a teacher purchased derby cars, allowing students to experience physics concepts firsthand. A watershed study project where students tested water samples with lab supplies, connecting classroom learning to real-world environmental issues.

FAQs

Are there alternative funding opportunities if my grant application isn’t approved?
In addition to the Classroom Enrichment Grants offered by the Bend-La Pine Education Foundation, there are several other funding opportunities available to teachers in Central Oregon:

Mid Oregon Credit Union – Community grant opportunities supporting local education initiatives.

SELCO Community Credit Union – Education grants and community support programs.

OnPoint Community Credit Union – Grants and sponsorships available for schools and community projects.

DonorsChoose.org – A national crowdfunding platform where teachers can create project requests and receive direct support from individual donors.

Exploring these resources can help expand the impact in your classroom and provide additional ways to bring creative projects to life.
How do I access my grant funds?
The Foundation provides Classroom Enrichment funding directly to the District, which then codes the funds for each awarded teacher. Once your grant has been processed, your school office manager will notify you when the funds are available for you to spend.
Are any approvals required before I submit my classroom enrichment application?
Before submitting your Classroom Enrichment Grant application, please ensure you have the necessary approvals:

Principal Approval – All Classroom Enrichment projects must first be approved by your school principal.

Technology Approval – Any technology-related requests must be approved by Scott McDonald, Director of IT for Bend-La Pine Schools.

Facilities Approval – Projects requiring permanent changes to your classroom or school space (e.g., whiteboards, shelving, cabinets) must be approved by Facilities or Maintenance prior to submission.

These approvals help ensure that projects align with district policies and can be implemented smoothly.
What follow-up is required after receiving a grant?
All grant recipients are required to complete a Project Completion Report within 45 days of finishing their project. This report must be submitted before applying for any future Classroom Enrichment Grants.

The report helps us measure the impact of your project and share the story with our donors and community partners who make these grants possible.

Thank you for enabling such a fantastic opportunity in my classroom. We had SO much fun learning together through so many hands-on experiences. The excitement for learning was palpable in the room. The experience far exceeded my hopes, and created a dynamic learning environment my students will be talking about for years to come. - Julie McCabe, Caldera High School
